HORROR LEVEL - HAUNTING OF HOPE ASYLUM

I worked on creating this short game in second year at Teesside University.

I used this project as a way to improve on my Level Design as well as world building skills. The aim was to immerse the player in the level, taking inspiration from Outlast.

For the project, I designed and used block out tools to create an abandoned asylum haunted by an evil entity. The player is tasked with searching for the entity to find out it's reasoning for staying there... however there is an unexpected twist.

I learnt different skills whilst working on this project that will be able to be transferred to future projects.​​

  • Learning the use of area gating to stop players returning to previous areas.

  • Using objectives to progress the player throughout the level (keys, doors)

  • Expanding on world building and narrative to keep the player intrigued.

  • Improving on blueprints.
